Public sector

Trusts

Hospitals are the most common form of trust in Northern Ireland. There are 18 National Health Service trusts in total. Click on the box below to see the definition of a trust.

A trust is a public sector organisation with a degree of independence. This independence allows the trust to manage its own budget and make its own decisions.
